A monster 50 minute podcast this week with some fantastic performances to talk about alongside some God awful ones.
In Part 1 we review the weekend’s results and the improving form of Nacional de Madeira, who haven’t conceded a goal for 490 minutes. Porto continue to impress with a mouth-watering 3-0 victory over Paços de Ferriera. Benfica draw yet again at home (1-1 with Braga) but there’s some dynamic light at the end of this tunnel and it’s not Binya’s new backwards throw-in technique. Rui Patrício takes the art of the frango to a higher plane as his butter fingers fail to hold the ball in Vítoria de Setúbal’s 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon. There’s a first person account of the poor refereeing decision that contributed to Belenenses’ 1-3 loss to Marítimo and a mate of a mate’s account of the first half of Estrela de Amadora against Leiria.
Part 2 revews the previous week’s European action and there is a public apology for all FC Nuremberg fans, we’re sorry, the wrong team won.
Finally, in Part 3, we preview this week’s Taça de Portugal fixtures and we talk about the dying embers of the long and mostly successful careers of Portugal’s “Golden Generation”.

Hey guys great podcast. For some reason I keep thinking Pauleta was a part of the Golden Generation (probably just because of his age) but he didn’t really start his professional career until after Figo and co. had dominated in the U-20 world cups right? I’ve always liked him but now that I think about it I don’t know much about his early years and his start on the national team. I realize this wasn’t a topic of the podcast but it just got me wondering so if you happen to have any info I’d love to hear more.
Also…is there any word on Scolari making changes? I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for João Moutinho this summer.
